Corona Geschichte

Originally known as South Riverside, Corona was founded in 1886 during the height of the citrus boom in Southern California and was once called the ?Lemon Capital of the World?. The city has a unique layout – a grid enclosed by Grand Boulevard, a circular drive. The city was established by the South Riverside Land and Water Company and became part of Riverside County in 1893. It was renamed ?Corona? in 1896 to reflect the layout of its streets. Corona has seen its fair share of celebrity residents over the years, including Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz, who owned a ranch in North Corona. Today, Corona is known as the ?Gateway to the Inland Empire? and has moved from being a mostly agricultural community to now being a major suburb of Los Angeles.
