Exploring the Cliffhaven Community

Located in the Newport Heights area of Newport Beach, the Cliffhaven community boasts a mixture of older and newer construction homes. Cliffhaven Amenities

As a part of the city of Newport Beach, Cliffhaven provides its residents with access to a number of amenities. Among these are some of the best beaches in the country. Recreational opportunities also abound within the area, with popular choices including sailing, rowing, fishing, kayaking, canoeing and paddleboarding. Whale watching is another popular activity in the area, as are sport fishing and harbor tours.

Cliffhaven Schools

The Cliffhaven community is served by the Newport-Mesa Unified School District. Founded in 1966, the district serves more than 22,000 students in 22 elementary schools, two intermediate schools and four high schools. The district is also home to one alternative education center and one adult education center.

Corona del Mar High School, which is located in the Eastbluff community, is one of the high schools that serves students in Cliffhaven. The school is a combination of a middle school and high school, thereby serving students in grades 7 through 12. The school has been ranked by Newsweek as one of the top 200 high schools in the country and it has been a state champion in numerous sports.

Cliffhaven is also served by Newport High School, which underwent major renovations in 2005. These included replacing the 70,000-square-foot Robins-Loats building with a 100,000-square-foot steel-framed building at an estimated cost of $45 million. The project also involved rebuilding the landmark 100-foot bell tower, which was ultimately demolished in 2007 due to earthquake code requirements. The school itself has been designated a National Blue Ribbon School, a California Distinguished School and an International Baccalaureate World School. Athletics offered at the school include lacrosse, water polo, basketball, tennis, volleyball, basketball, football, cross country, soccer, field hockey, sailing, surf, softball, wrestling and track and field.

Exploring Newport Heights

An upscale neighborhood in Newport Beach, Newport Heights borders the Pacific Coast Highway, 16th Street, Dover Drive and Newport Boulevard. Situated on a cliff above the Pacific Coast Highway, the neighborhood is known for its exceptional views looking down at Mariners Mile.

Located in Orange County, the seaside city of Newport Beach boasts a population of more than 85,000 people. According to 2010 data, the median family income within the city is among the highest in the nation with a quarter of households having an income that is greater than $200,000. Property values also consistently rank among the highest in the country, with the median value of a home in Newport Beach exceeding $1 million.

Due to its location, Newport Beach has a mid-latitude semi-arid climate with Mediterranean characteristics. The Pacific Ocean helps to keep the city warmer in the winter and cooler in the summer, thereby creating less temperature variation than other cities that are a few miles inland.
