Located on the south end of the Corona del Mar Village of Newport Beach on the north side of the Pacific Coast Highway, the Cameo Highlands community features homes that date back to the early 1960s. Initially characterized by mostly single-level homes that were frequently used as a second residence by their owners, many of the homes have since been expanded to become two-story homes. Located within walking distance of the beach and next to the new Crystal Cove development, residents of Cameo Highlands enjoy a great location with easy access to a number of amenities.

Due to its location within the Corona del Mar Village, the Cameo Highlands community provides residents with access to a number of amenities. In addition to being known for its beaches, including the Corona del Mar State Beach and the Crystal Cove State Park, Corona del Mar boasts Cliffside views, tidepools and quaint village shops. Other points of interest in Corona del Mar include the Sherman Library and Gardens and Fashion Island.

Exploring Corona Del Mar

Spanish for ?Crown of the Sea,? Corona del Mar is generally considered to consist of all of the land on the seaward face of the San Joaquin Hills to the south of Avocado Avenue to the city limits of Newport Beach. Settled in the early 20th century, the older parts of Corona del Mar consists primarily of closely spaced, free-standing, single-family detached houses. Some newer developments in the area feature ranch style houses, many of which offer expansive ocean views.

Though Corona del Mar does not have a locally administered municipal government, it does receive services from the city of Newport Beach. The neighborhood also has a representative on the Newport Beach City Council. In addition, while the neighborhood is part of the incorporated city of Newport Beach, the post office accepts the mailing address of Corona del Mar for those who live in the 92625 ZIP code.

Living in Newport Beach

As part of the city of Newport Beach, Corona del Mar has a mid-latitude semi-arid climate with Mediterranean characteristics. As such, it exhibits weak temperature variation on the day-to-day basis as well as on the seasonal basis, particularly when compared to cities that are just a few miles inland from the ocean. The Pacific Ocean is largely responsible for this climate, as it helps to warm the temperatures in the winter while helping to cool them in the summer.

Located in Orange County, the seaside city of Newport had a population of over 85,000 according to the 2010 census. Both the median family income and property values within the city are consistently ranked higher than national rankings. According to a study conducted in 2010, more than a quarter of the households in Newport Beach have an income of greater than $200,000. In addition, the median value for a home in the city exceeds $1 million.
